Working as a bone marrow transplant nurse practitioner, Alison never fully imagined what it would be like to be on the other side of healthcare as a patient. In December 2024, Alison noticed a lump while breastfeeding her son. While she tried not to jump to the worst-case scenario, a biopsy confirmed her fears. At the age of 35, Alison was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Overwhelmed, Alison immediately began treatment. As she shared with us, navigating cancer is incredibly challenging and going through her experience with two young children and an active-duty navy spouse has been a battle.

Alison feels that this journey is the best and worst thing to happen to her. She has an entirely new appreciation and goal to live life with gratitude, intentionality, and passion. The little things are not taken for granted. This experience has also changed her so much as a healthcare provider and has proven to her that time spent with patients and advocating for them does make a tremendous difference.

Alison’s wish was to get dolled up and go to The Pink Agenda New York Gala with her mom, who is also a breast cancer survivor, nurse, and her inspiration. She wanted to connect with other inspiring women as she strives to give back to this amazing community and advocate for women’s health. We were thrilled to make this wish a reality and grant Alison a special day of shopping at Kendra Scott and pampering before an evening out at The Pink Agenda New York Gala!

“Celebrating being cancer free at The Pink Agenda’s New York Gala was truly unforgettable! The support and kindness of this community made my dream come true. Being surrounded by fellow survivors was incredibly inspiring! Thank you for a magical experience!”
